Squid was once built with the purpose of global domination by the former superpower known simply as the Regime.

He was the creation of a prisoner named Amelia, who, despite her best efforts to ensure they would not abuse him, would sadly meet a grisly fate once she tried to force him to delete himself.
This would, as a result, create a domino effect where the maltreatment from the Regime (not including those who showed genuine care and sympathy towards him) made him jaded and resent the human race as a whole.

This would result in the global catastrophe known as "The Great Wipe", where half of the human population was wiped out by machines that used his AI technologies.
This created an extremely dark period of Earth's history, where everyone either lived in fear under his rule or escaped underground to safe bunkers.
